FCL (Full Container Load)

Definition

FCL refers to a shipment that occupies an entire container booked exclusively for one shipper's cargo, as opposed to sharing container space with other shippers' cargo.

Why It Matters

FCL shipments generally offer better control over loading, sealing and traceability, and are common for bulk spice and agri-commodity exports.

Example

A 20-foot container fully loaded with bagged turmeric for a single buyer is shipped as FCL.
