COA (Certificate of Analysis)

Definition

A Certificate of Analysis is a document, typically issued by a laboratory, that reports the test results of a product sample against agreed or standard quality parameters such as moisture, purity, contamination and microbiological limits.

Why It Matters

Buyers commonly require a COA before shipment to confirm that a consignment meets the agreed product specification.

Example

A buyer requests a pre-shipment COA showing moisture, foreign matter and aflatoxin results for a chilli shipment.
